Thinking about an exercise ball for ab workouts?  Wondering if something that looks so easy can really be a workout…or even work?

Yes, you can get a good workout on an exercise ball, and it can firm and tone your abs and strengthen your core.  Leaving you strong, sleek and sexy.

Exercise ball workouts may look easy, but you’ll find that they really do target your core — no matter what part of your body you are exercising!

Exercise Balls By Any Other Name…

Exercise balls are also known under the names fitness, pilates, stability, Swiss and balance balls.  They are not the same, however, as medicine balls.

These rubbery round objects some in 4 basic sizes:  45 cm, 55 cm, 65 cm and 75 cm.  The size you need is based on how tall you are, as well as how long your legs are.  If you’re under 5′ 4″ you may want to try the 45 cm ball; if you’re over 6′ tall, you might want a 75 cm ball.   Between the two heights, your ball will depend on the length of your legs (long legs – larger ball size).

Exercise Ball DVD — Two Great Reasons to Work Out With One

An exercise ball DVD is going to be a great tool in your success in your workouts with your exercise ball. This will be like following along with a professional trainer, but without having to leave the comfort of your own home, or deal with the hassle of a loud obnoxious trainer.

Excellent Reason Number 1

The main reason why people want to use a DVD to workout to, is because they prefer to do their exercises in the comfort of their own home.

This could be for a number of reasons that they want to do the exercises in the comfort of their own home:

  • Embarrassed about appearance; some people are embarrassed to be seen in public because they are over weight, and do not like the possible jeers, or smart remarks.
  • Prefer to work at own pace; might be out of shape to the point where you are taking many breaks through out the workout. Most workout DVD’s come with more than 1 kind of workout on them, and most only take around 10 minutes to complete, this ends up being a real time saver.

There is no shame in this, plus, it’s a lot easier to turn on your tv and exercise, that it is to travel to your local gym, and work out there.

Reason 2:  Exercise Ball DVD is Inexpensive

Another common reasons is straight up, affordability. A monthly membership to a gym can cost you anywhere from $30 – $60 a month, and that is just for a regular membership, it usually costs a lot more for special classes, it is all depending on the company, and your location.

An exercise dvd for your exercise ball will only cost you as little as $10, and it is reusable over and over again, for as long as the DVD will last. This is definitely a better use of your money.

Using an exercise ball dvd for your workouts is a very good thing to do, sure you don’t have that person yelling in your ear to push yourself just a little bit more, just a little fit further. Plus, a lot of these work outs are only 10 minutes long, and you can get a whole collection of them without ever coming close to the cost of a monthly membership to a gym.

If you’re still on the fence about which way to go, then I suggest you go to the gym and find out what it is like there. I expect that you’ll be back for your DVD in no time!
